Full course description

Faith community nursing is the specialized practice of professional nursing that focuses on the intentional care of the spirit as the foundation of promoting wholistic health and preventing or minimizing illness in a faith community. The Westberg Institute for Faith Community Nursing 2019 edition of the Foundations of Faith Community Nursing curriculum, which is based on the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice for Faith Community Nursing (2017), guides the learning activities in this module-based online program. The 15 modules in the curriculum are based on a conceptual module that includes four major concepts: the spiritual dimension of health, professionalism, wholistic health, and community. Critical thinking questions and learning activities such as case studies facilitate participants' acquisition of FCN practice knowledge. An internationally-recognized certificate in Faith Community Nursing will be awarded by the Widener University School of Nursing, an educational partner with the Westberg Institute for Faith Community Nursing, at the completion of this course. Registered Nurses will receive 36.5 CNE (Continuing Nursing Education) credits from Widener University School of Nursing. The course runs from 5/13/2024-8/25/2024. No new enrollments after 5/13/2024.
